Now on the BBQ circuit

DALLAS/FT WORTH - Rain didn’t keep the crowds from coming! Several hundred curious and hungry guests attended the Inde-pendent Electrical Contractors’ (IEC) Fort Worth/Tarrant County chapter’s wire off and first annual barbecue cook-off. The event, hosted at Acme Electric in Fort Worth on Jun. 3, brought out the mem-bers’ competitive side. Wife-off competi-tors were Cable Electric’s Francisco Gabriola and Mario Gonzales and JMEG’s Kelly Sustaire. Sustaire won the wire-off and will represent the chapter at the IEC National Apprentice of the Year Competition in Phoenix in October.

Twelve cooking teams participated in the barbecue cook-off, which is set to become an annual tradition. It was such a hit that the association is already scheduling its second barbecue for next spring. –mjm
